Microsoft has been demonstrating the latest in technology thanks to its powerful research and development department. He has done it in some internal sessions known as TechFest, in its 2012 edition, but fortunately he has been publishing multimedia material in his official blog so that we could be aware of the advances.

Demonstrations play with house technologies, especially with Kinect, or the idea behind it, which is the main protagonist, but Windows Phone handsets and interfaces can also be seen.

Shoulder projector, interface on the wall
As you can see in the video, Microsoft places a pico projector on its shoulder, which represents an interface in Metro style on surfaces, with which we can also interact in a multi-touch way thanks to Kinect's recognition technology, also on the shoulder:

It is visible that the project is in the concept phase, far from doing anything that can be put on the market, but the technology is there, and it is a matter of miniaturizing the elements to achieve infinite possibilities in terms of technology to wear .

Illumishare, sharing workspace
The next project, Illumishare, allows you to remotely share elements on a surface. Using again the same idea, picoproyector and camera that captures the movements and depth of the scene, allows us to share workspace between at least two people.

Both will be able to interact in the same space, at the same time, being able to play cards, or draw in a real way, which will be shared virtually in the common workspace. Once again in the conceptual phase, it gives us ideas of what the near future holds in the hands of Microsoft:

The Redmond company believes that the technology employed is not expensive, and will be easily implementable, with potential use in remote work, education, or games.

Holoflector, Kinect in the mirror
The third project responds to the name of Holoflector, and plays with the idea of placing a translucent mirror in front of an LCD panel in which Kinect technology will play with the contents.

Regarding the representation of elements, we would say that it is something like Augmented Reality, but in front of the mirror, since we are seeing ourselves reflected at the same time that we interact with virtual elements:
But the novelties introduced do not end here, since Sensor Fusion technology is used to determine the best positioning of objects. It is based on obtaining the information of the movement and orientation sensors (gyroscope) of the Windows Phone phone that you see in the video.

Three-dimensional, transparent and interactive screen
We finished the TechForum demonstration tour with a development of Microsoft's Applied Sciences Group, which showed us an interactive 3D screen. A transparent OLED screen developed by Samsung is used for this.

Again Kinect comes into play to determine our position in the scene, which not only recognizes our hands to operate with the elements (keyboard, folders ..), but also monitors our head and eye position to represent the 3D scene as we move with respect to the screen:
